An Interview with Avi:
What is your favourite book?
My favorite book is actually a poetry book called The Crown Ain't Worth Much by Hanif Abdurraqib.
Who is your favourite author? Or one who has inspired you and why?
I really like C.S. Lewis just for simple fact that he doesn't let his religious views overpower his writing. He could write from any perspective.
What was your favourite subject at school?
I've always enjoyed English and Psychology and I try to use them together as often as I can.
What does ‘adventure writing’ mean to you? Why did you choose to try your hand at an adventure story?
Adventure writing for me doesn't have to be going on an actual adventure. For me it can also mean a mental adventure, something that makes a character delve into themselves.
If you could ask an author anything, what would you want to know?
How do you stay motivated to write so much and so often?
Who would you consider one of your heroes and why?
Definitely my old youth pastor Shane O'Brien. He's helped me through so much and has always stayed positive and believed me.
What is the most adventurous thing you would like to do, or place you would like to visit and why?
I would love to study in Australia and travel around there. I love the idea of Australia.
Where do you find inspiration for your stories?
A lot of times I write something really dramatic and emotional so I can vent; the full extent of the term "climax." Then I go through and realize it's way over the top, and I bring it down a notch.
If you could time travel, where would you go and why?
3020. I want to see the evolution of inventions and technology and more importantly, psychology and culture.
What three words would you use to describe your story?
Heart-strung. Sci-fi. Warm.
