We are thrilled to announce the 2024 Author of Tomorrow shortlist! 

From the hundreds of entries we received from talented young writers all over the world, ten outstanding stories have been shortlisted for the 2024 Author of Tomorrow award. From thrilling quests and back-breaking journeys to heart-pounding escapes and mind-blowing discoveries, these stories we received this year transported us to new worlds and captivated our imaginations with their originality. Well done to all those who entered.

The quality and creativity of the submissions made selecting a shortlist of only ten writers an exceptionally tough job for our team of readers and reviewers, and we would like to extend a massive thank you to them for their hard work and discerning eyes. 

Congratulations to the shortlisted writers for making it to the final stage of the competition. Your exceptional stories represent the power and breadth of the adventure writing genre.

11 and Under | Up to 500 words 

12-15 years | 1,000 - 2,000 words 

16-21 years | 1,500 - 3,000 words

These ten authors will be working with a professional editor over the summer, before having their work digitally published on Worldreader’s BookSmart app, online and available for readers.

These ten stories will be read by our young judging panel who are responsible for deciding the final winner of each category, to be announced at our Awards Reception on 19th September, 2024. Good luck!

Commended Entries:

Owing to the high quality of the entries, a further 80 submissions have been awarded a commendation. Each young writer will receive a certificate of commendation in the autumn and feedback on their manuscripts over the coming months.
